Outside

The weather has been gorgeous here and we are truly starting to enjoy having a backyard. Mostly we just keep the door open and Inara runs in and out. Here are some pictures of the girls enjoying our little patch of grass:

Inara wrestles Alba to the ground and then they laugh like maniacs.

And Inara is an incredibly good sport about Alba pulling her hair.

Yay!

Easter

This year, Easter was celebrated by participating in the yearly Easter parade and building a new fence in our backyard. The Easter bunny also stopped by and left a couple of eggs for Inara. He was wise enough to leave before she could cook him up and eat him though. She appreciated the eggs, but was a bit disappointed about the lack of bunny on the menu.

Best buddies leading each other into mischief.

Lots of people (about 4000 this year)

Enjoying the Easter eggs given to those dressed up.

Chicken dance!

Tiny Easter Witch.

Added this very similar picture of me and Inara in 2012.

(Thanks Reagan for the pictures!)

The fence! We were both pretty surprised at how it turned out considering our complete lack of experience.

For comparison: A picture of the other side which still needs to be redone.

Running, shades then running again.

So I have news.

Yesterday I competed in a half marathon that I wisely chose to split into a relay with two other brave work friends. I had initially wanted to run the quarter marathon (10.5 kilometers) but due to the number of people wanting to run in groups we did the 7 split. I did run the 10.5 k but it wasn't timed and as such is less note worthy. In any case it turns out the relay teams were slow folks and my team handily won. See the below image of me showing off the winnings.

Handsome and fast!
Otherwise I have a few other things from the Ipod to post for your viewing delight.
I was left home with the girls. I found a pair of sunglasses and dropped them on Alba. She acted like the sun had burnt out and just froze like this for about 30 seconds.

Inara demanded a pair and I provided them.

Alba continues to be amazed.

Inara just rocks the shades.

Whaaaaa....

Totally into it now though. Clearly.
A movie from before we moved. I had to stop filming because the rabbit needed me to burp it. Or so I was told.

Keeping Track

This evening, Inara was playing ice-cream shop. I ordered a peach cone and Alba ordered pear. She gave us the "ice-cream", asked for payment and then went over to her chalk board and said to herself: "One peach..." and drew a yellow line. She then turned to me and asked: "What did Alba have?" I told her pear and she turned to the board and drew a green line. Somewhat amazed, I asked her if she was keeping track of her ice-cream sales. She said she was. To test her, a stuffed animal walked by the shop and ordered strawberry. A pink line was drawn.

It's possible that she learned this at preschool, but we haven't taught her. Is it because she has accountant blood in her veins? Should I start letting her manage our finances?

The picture has a lot of lines because she did the same thing yesterday, but I wasn't paying as close attention.

Also, her first reaction to the Easter bunny was to ask if we could eat it. The bunny, that is. She maintained her desire to eat it all evening yesterday, but today she seems to have switched to being more interested in the eggs. I hope the Easter bunny leaves her some nice treats or he will probably be on the menu next year.
