Easter

We've been enjoying a long Easter weekend. I got part of Thursday off and neither one of us start back until Tuesday. Here are some of the highlights:

Thursday:

We attended the yearly Easter parade where kids (and adults) dress up as witches, walk through town and are rewarded for their efforts with an Easter egg.

The fiercest Easter-witch of them all.

Our friends got the right idea and dressed the whole family up.

Friday:

Inara helped me make blueberry muffins. Anyone who's ever baked together with a child knows what kind of help she was offering. After one failed batch, we did get some muffins though and Inara had a great time.

We then defied this offensively cold weather we're having and met up with friends at a nearby park. Despite bringing hot beverages and muffins, we only endured for about an hour. Where is spring?

Saturday:

I was going to go make candles with my cousin and uncle. Or so I thought, but it turns out I had got things mixed up and it's not until next weekend. Unfortunately, we had turned down an Easter lunch because of it and ended up just staying home all day. However, it ended up being a good day of just hanging out.

We all got Easter-tattoos that grandpa Kartchner had sent:

Inara painted and apparently realized through a series of trials that there really is no need for color when one paints, as long as one uses a lot of black instead.

At night we had one of Andrews old classmates over for dinner. I hadn't seen him for a long time and we enjoyed a nice dinner and interesting discussions.

Sunday:

Inara wore the Easter dress that grandma and grandpa Kartchner sent:

Good thing we have Inara around to take care of stuff!

We then headed out to my mom's in the morning (taking the bus, which is one of Inara's favorite things to do) where we hid some eggs filled with stickers (another one of Inara's favorite things) in the yard. We thought she might not be that interested after finding the first one, so we didn't put that many out, but she really seemed to enjoy it. When we got inside she got to look for one last, bigger egg that we had filled with pomegranate seeds. She loved it. Here's a (long) video of her looking for eggs:

The day was finished off with swim class.

Monday:

It's been a pretty boring day of getting things done, but we're planning on heading outside once Inara wakes up from her nap. When I asked her what she wanted to do today, she said swinging, so that's probably what we'll be doing next.

Hope all of you had a great Easter!
